These bye-laws can be downloaded here  These new Bye-laws place obligations on waste producers in households and commercial premises regarding storage, presentation, segregation of waste, contamination prevention and demonstration of proof that their waste is disposed of by an approved waste operator or brought by the waste producer to an authorised waste facility.

FOOD WASTE

With these Bye-laws in place we have now started to deliver food waste caddys to all areas where the population is greater than 500.These areas are below.

Kilkenny City, Castlecomer, Callan, Moneenroe, Graignamanagh, Paulstown Thomastown, Gowran, Freshford and Ballyragget

Anybody living within the boundaries of these towns/villages will be receiving a food caddy in the coming weeks. If you want to receive your caddy straight away you can contact our office and we will put it down for delivery immediately. Should you require and extra food caddy you can contact our office and we can get second caddy delivered. If customers find that they are producing large amounts of food waste http://stopfoodwaste.ie is a great resource that may help you reduce the amount of food waste that your household is producing.

Kilkenny County Council are now actively enforcing the segregation of food waste as part of the new bye-laws and as part of our collection permit we are required to keep a record of anybody who does not avail of this food collection service.

ILLEGAL DUMPING

These Bye-laws have been adopted in order to help prevent unauthorised dumping around the county. They will assist the local authority in tackling the problem of unauthorised waste collectors.Kilkenny County Council Officials will now be carrying out door to door checks to ascertain how waste producers are disposing of their waste.

With this in mind all customers that use our prepaid bags should keep all their bag receipts for a minimum of 12 months. Similarly we would advise any customers that use our facility at Castleinch as their method of disposing of waste to retain all receipts for this period also.
